Exton, PA – With five games left Joie had a one-point lead, but the rest of the Flynn’s were close behind. Only seven points separated the first and seventh place competitors. Joie (62 points) was able to finish strong and distance herself from the rest of the pack and win her 3rd Flynn Bowl Pool championship.
In a year unlike any other, the bowl pool also proved to be like any other in its history. Only 16 games were contested as a result of bowls being canceled or teams opting out due to Covid-19. This is the lowest number of games played in a bowl pool that I have a record of (I don’t have detailed results for the following years: 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1996, 2000). It is surprising we were able to play as many as we did.
Matt (51 – t3), the Flynn closest to Joie entering the final day had an awful showing the last few games and fell out of contention. The top two winningest Flynn’s (Joyce, Marty) were never factors in this year’s bowl pool. We did see strong showings from Sarah (53 points) and Alyssa (51 points) who finish in 2nd and 3rd respectively. This was the highest either of them has placed.
This is Joie’s third bowl pool championship. She has won two of the last three and has moved into 4th place for most wins of all time.
